Meet the Team

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVSc)

Jason Mansfield

Most people will recognise him from his work in Proserpine and the Whitsundays, however for those who have not met him, here is a little bit about Dr Jason Mansfield. The driving force behind the business, he is no stranger to challenging work and looks forward to meeting you and your animals.

“I grew up in Sarina on a small cattle property. I have always loved and enjoyed animals growing up on the farm and ever since I was 6 years old, I remember wanting to be a vet. I graduated from James Cook University in December 2014 and was given the opportunity to work at Proserpine Vet Surgery in 2015. I have lived and breathed Veterinary Science ever since that date and have learnt it is not a job, it is a lifestyle and the relationship you build with clients and their animals is always something I find very special. I am a true mixed practice veterinarian and enjoy working with all animals, big and small, to help with their health dilemmas. Those who know me know that I do like my cows, but I try not to let the horses, dogs and cats know that. Even though I am new to Bowen it still feels like home is just down the road, if you see me down the street feel free to stop me and say g’day.”

Emergency Assistance

Our Vets and nurses are available for afterhours emergencies for our clients 7 days a week. If you believe your animal is having an emergency, please contact us on 07 4786 1010 and follow the prompts. Here you will reach a member of our nursing team to help triage the situation.

Remember Greater Whitsunday Vet Services is a small team and not only do our vets and nurses work during the day but then go on call when they are at home at night. Please be courteous and only call if there is a genuine emergency. We understand it is a stressful time but please be courteous to staff as no aggression, violence or abuse is tolerated at our clinic.
