⁉Does your dog have bad breath? ⁉
Our pets can develop bad smelling breath for some of the reasons listed below!
- Dental disease
- Rotten teeth
- Poor dental hygiene
- Buildup of old food or plaque
- Medical conditions
How to Elimate that bad smell!?
1. Book in to see your nurse! If your dogs breath is foul smelling and you feel like you are doing all the above tips, book in to see one of our nurses! We can do a free dental check and let you know if any look like they need extracting as that smell is probably from a bad tooth!
2. Brush your dogs teeth! You can find many different types of tools to help you do this and there are dog friendly toothpaste options out there too! By brushing your dogs teeth you are removing that buildup of plaque and tartar that causes further dental issues.
3. Giving your dog bones, dental chews or harder vegetable to snack on. When dogs chew on bones this plaque and tartar is worn away. Although not a cure if you give them something like a carrot or raw animal bone like beef and clean their teeth it can help minimise the need for emergency dental care.
4. Make sure they have clean drinking water. Nasty bacteria can live in dirty water so always make sure your dog has a fresh cool bowl of water to graze on throughout the day. There are also additives like Oxyfresh you can add to their water to keep that breath and teeth health nice and fresh.

🐍 Snake Safety for Your Pets 🐍
Living in the beautiful Whitsundays and Queensland, we know our pets can sometimes be a little too curious – and that includes getting too close to snakes! 🐾
It’s important to know which snakes are dangerous and which are not. While ALL snakes should be avoided, being able to identify the type of snake that may have bitten your pet can help our team provide the best diagnosis and emergency care.
👉 What to do if you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake:
Get your pet to the clinic immediately – Time is critical when it comes to snake bites.
A blood sample will be taken from your pet to determine the type of treatment you pet may need! 💉
Did you know that certain whip snakes can also leave your pet needing hospital treatment as they can become paralyzed for a few days and in some cases weeks! ⁉
Stay safe and keep your furry friends protected! If you have any concerns or need advice, don't hesitate to contact us. 🐕🐈
